Pixel FX January Update (2025)

Happy New Year from Pixel FX!

We hope your 2025 is off to a great start. Hopefully, you made a New Year’s resolution to play more retro games this year—because we’re here to help you get the most out of your consoles! Here’s what’s happening at Pixel FX this month:

Morph 4K Analog Bridge Pre-order Update

We want to provide an update on the Morph 4K Analog Bridge pre-order process for those who purchased first-batch Morph units. The Analog Bridge is still in production. While we had hoped to have preorders live by now, the boards are delayed due to the Chinese New Year holiday and expected to arrive by the end of February.

Once pre-orders for first-batch buyers are fulfilled, we anticipate having extras available for general purchase. Thank you for your understanding and patience—we’ll share more updates as we get closer to shipping!

The wait is over— RetroGEM kits for the 3DO are officially available for purchase! Please make sure to check our model compatibility list to see if your 3DO console is supported: https://docs.pixelfx.co/GEM-Support.html

RetroGEM for GameCube: Coming Soon

GameCube RetroGEM kits are on hand and scheduled for release in mid-February. We’re still working on finalizing the documentation and sending units to installers for feedback.

Here are some sneak peek pictures of the installation and available hdmi mounts. Mini HDMI will still fit in the normal cut location from existing gc-video installations.

Upcoming Firmware Updates

We’re thrilled to give you an exclusive sneak peek at Morph 4K Preset Auto-Loading, a powerful new feature now available in our unstable firmware (v3.9.46.148).

What’s New: Morph 4K Preset Auto-Loading

Say goodbye to manual profile switching! The Morph4K can now automatically detect your connected console or sourceand load a custom preset tailored to your setup. This works by analyzing real-time “contexts” from the source signal, including:

  • Game/App Identification: Detects the Game IDof the title you’re playing.

  • Display Metadata: Pulls SPD InfoFrame data (FXD, DV1, vendor info).

  • Device Recognition: Reads CEC details like the connected device’s OSD name.

  • Input Type: Identifies source input type (HDMI, VGA, Component, etc).

  • Signal Attributes: Detects input resolution width and height, as well as interlaced status.

How to Use Presets

  1. Save/Load Profiles: Access the new Presets menuin the Morph 4K OSD to create or switch profiles.

  2. Share Configurations: Export/import presets as .inifiles via SD card—ideal for sharing optimized setups with the community.

Why It Matters

This feature streamlines multi-console setups. Imagine booting up your favorite game and having your Morph 4K instantly apply your preferred scaling, color, or scanline settings—no clicks required!

Ready to test it?Select the unstable channel in your Morph 4K firmware settings, install the latest firmware, and share your feedback with our team. Your input will help shape the stable release!
